| On Friday, December
1st, 2006, the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation is
proud to host the sixth annual Generating Momentum for our World
conference in Winnipeg.
The theme for this yearÕs conference is Africa: 2015 Š Reaching
the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
In 2002, MCIC proudly hosted the first Generating Momentum
for our World high school leadersÕ conference that attracted
over 100 students from across Manitoba representing 24 high
schools.
Generating Momentum has become an annual event that takes place
in Winnipeg at the end of November and periodically in Thompson,
Manitoba. Conference themes have focused on issues of child labour,
consumerism, fair trade, peace and justice, and HIV/AIDS.
This year MCIC hopes to attract over 120 student leaders and
activities involved in organised international development or
activist groups in their schools. Students will participate in
one of twelve 6 hour workshops to learn multi-media skills that
will assist them to engage their peers in issues related to poverty.
Highly skilled and motivated demonstrators, community partners
and field experts will facilitate the workshops.
